Atrium Clinic believes in the highest standards of mental health and therapy services in forensic settings and is committed to a continuously developing its workforce in order to achieve those aims. This policy has been put in place to support colleagues in their continued development. This policy does not replace the employment contract terms or the conduct policy.
Where possible colleagues should identify and co-design Atrium forensic training workshops to meet ongoing development needs. In exceptional cases if the business case is made, we will consider requests for CPD workshops.
Atrium clinic is committed to support employees and self -employed contractors to achieve Masters/doctorate level competencies /specialist knowledge as mental health practitioners with direct relevance to forensic services. We are offering ‘one off’ grants £500 per employee practitioner to support with Masters/Doctorate level study. Examples of funded costs could include:
- Additional and external clinical supervision or equivalent when specified by Masters course
- Books on book list
- Accommodation costs for Masters level course workshops
- Workshops specified and additional to main Masters course
- Research costs required to support Masters level study
- Travel to course
Conditions for grant receipt
Apply by email to CEO/Clinical lead (Sara Ireland sara@atriumclinic.co.uk) in either August or December in academic year you wish to attend a course, explaining your course and requirements, how your course is relevant to your work with Atrium and how you will use the money. You will need the backing of your service manager.
If the grant is agreed, you will need to keep your receipts if agreed and forward to CEO/Clinical lead to ensure these conditions are met.
In order to access the grant, you need to have been working for Atrium for at least 26 weeks as a case holding practitioner. You are required to remain in the employment of Atrium for at least two years after the application to retain the funding or else you will be required to refund the grant to Atrium Clinic.
Your course needs to be at least Masters level in therapies, mental health, Neuroscience or associated topic related to your competence to deliver forensic service on behalf of Atrium.
All grants are discretionary, but you will be given feedback on the grounds for refusal.
Masters level course loan
Atrium Clinic is prepared to make interest free loans up to £1000.00 to registered masters students in courses that will benefit our services. All grants are discretionary, but you will be given feedback on the grounds for refusal. This is additional to the study grant and the loan conditions are as follows
Proof of course acceptance/registration
You need to be a fully registered practitioner with a professional body (BACP, HCPC), already working in a case holding capacity with the clinic in a forensic setting and be able to commit to a further 2 years of voluntary/trainee or paid employment with the clinic.
You will require backing from your manager to apply for the loan.
1 loan up to £1000.00 per academic year of 2-year programme and a requirement to pass end of year assessment or the loan terms are forfeited
Up to two loans across 2 years subject to success in year 1 and successful adherence to repayment terms.
Repayment terms for each loan is monthly deduction from salary or quarterly payments starting the month after the loan is received.
A condition of the loan scheme is that practitioners remain in the employ or on contract to Atrium for 2 years for every loan i.e. 2 or 4 years (for 2 consecutive loans) or as required by the clinic.
Each successful applicant for the loan has to sign a repayment agreement.
