What Is Access to Work?
Access to Work is a government-funded scheme designed to help people with physical or mental health conditions in the workplace. It provides funding for practical support, including ADHD coaching, to help you perform your job to the best of your ability.
This can include:
ADHD Coaching sessions
Assistive technology
Travel support if public transport is difficult
Mental health and wellbeing support services
Who Can Apply?
You don’t need a formal diagnosis, but documentation such as a GP letter to indicate that you may be indicating symptoms of ADHD or on an NHS wait list for assessment or a psychologist report can help support your application.
You may be eligible if you:
- Be 16 or older and live in Great Britain.
- Be in paid employment (including self-employment) or an apprenticeship or about to start a job.
- Have ADHD or another condition that affects your ability to do your job
- Need extra support beyond what your employer can reasonably provide
How to Get ADHD Coaching Through Access to Work: Step-by-Step
Go to the official Access to Work page to start your application online or by phone 08001217479. https://www.gov.uk/access-to-work/apply
You’ll be asked for information including:
- Your job role and employer details
- Your condition and how it affects you at work
- What support you think would help
- takes about 30 minutes
An assessor may contact you to discuss your needs in more detail. Be clear about the challenges ADHD presents at work and how coaching can help.
If approved, Access to Work will offer funding for ADHD coaching. You can usually choose Atrium Clinic as a provider or use one from their list.
Once arrangements are in place, you can begin regular coaching sessions—either in person or online.
