Introduction to the ADHD screening test pilot at Atrium Clinic, Southend Essex, UK.

iFocus and Atrium Clinic are working together to bring a new ADHD screening Test to the UK. Currently, ADHD screening is unable to filter the right individuals into an assessment pathway as many people are flagged for ADHD who ultimately will not be diagnosed. iFocus has been working in the field internationally to refine eye tracking, through a laptop webcam, as a means of identifying  attention deficit in reading fluency. They have successfully used this method to measure changes in reading fluency after medication. Now we are teaming with iFocus to see if we can refine the same methodology to bring a new clinical evidence-based screening tool to the UK. We are starting with adults but see such a tool supporting schools in the future not just with prioritising those who need help most to access faster assessments but to provide support plans to those who need help but might not meet the threshold for diagnosis.

About this UK study with Atrium Clinic

In this study we are collecting data to build an algorithm to screen for patients with ADHD. The screening algorithm will be based on eye tracking data and our participants will be clients in the Southend Clinic accessing coaching or therapy services who wish to take part.  iFocus’s methodology is backed by research published in the Journal of Attention Disorders, ensuring credibility and reliability. Most of our study participants are from our GP referred coaching programme who are on NHS waiting lists for ADHD assessment. Patients in the Essex area may be able to access free ADHD coaching at the Southend Clinic by GP referral.

You can contact the Atrium Clinic on 01702- 332857 for more information.
